Some events are not just functions—they're memories wrapped in magic. The engagement of Rupesh & Prerna, held in Bhubaneswar, was one such celebration where tradition met elegance, and love sparkled under warm fairy lights.
Being a proud Khandayat family, Rupesh’s parents wanted the event to reflect their heritage, values, and culture—while also making it a modern fairy-tale that the couple would remember forever.
Celebration Plus was entrusted with the entire planning—from the pre-engagement rituals to the décor, dinner, entertainment, and the dreamy proposal moment.
The Concept: Fairy-Tale Elegance Meets Odia Royalty
We built the entire engagement around a “Modern Royal Tale”—combining pastel tones, warm lights, and symbolic decor elements inspired by Odia royalty and nature.
From the moment guests entered, they were immersed in an atmosphere of charm, grace, and grandeur.
Welcome Pathway – A Walk Through Love
A custom “Zafri entrance gate” was created at the venue entry—a majestic floral arch with jali work and warm net lighting.
On the pathway, we placed beautiful cut-outs of Rupesh and Prerna from childhood to present day—creating a timeline of love and nostalgia.
Soft green ferns and pastel blooms lined the walkway, glowing under golden net-wrapped fairy lights.
Custom signboards read:
“She said yes to a lifetime of togetherness.”
“From childhood dreams to real love stories.”
Stage & Decor – A Blend of Royal & Romantic
The main stage featured maroon velvet drapes layered with soft net fabric, elegantly framing the couple’s seating.
Warm golden chandeliers and crystal hanging bulbs added a glow of timeless romance.
Peacock-inspired selfie zones were set up with green plant installations shaped like open feathers, symbolizing beauty and grace.
Soft music from a live instrumentalist filled the air as the guests explored the space.
Pre-Engagement Rituals – Culture in Every Moment
As is custom in Khandayat families, elders from both sides performed auspicious rituals:
Exchange of traditional gifts, betel leaves, and fruits
Blessings from maternal and paternal elders
A soulful mangalacharan played in the background as the engagement thali arrived.
The Royal Entry – A Moment to Remember
Prerna entered first, walking under a floral umbrella with sisters and cousins dressed in coordinated pastel sarees.
The walkway glowed with fairy lights and flower petals, leading her to the stage.
Then came Rupesh, with a royal sword in hand, flanked by his brothers, as a shankh (conch) echoed through the venue.
The crowd rose to greet him. It was not just a walk—it was a moment of pride and legacy.
The Proposal – Celebration in a Unique Way
Instead of a typical ring exchange, we planned something unique.
A rotating floral platform rose slowly at the center of the stage as the lights dimmed.
On top of it, lay the engagement rings, surrounded by a fog blanket and a gentle shower of petals.
As Rupesh took the mic and said,
“From today, your smile is my forever home,”
the crowd erupted into applause.
With that, he went down on one knee—yes, even traditional families have modern hearts—and slipped the ring onto Prerna’s hand.
Dinner & Delights – A Feast for the Senses
The evening concluded with a grand dinner where flavors met finesse.
Traditional Odia Delights: Dum Rice along with biriyani, Mutton Curry, Chakuli-Aloo Dum, Kanika, Chingudi kurkure ghanta & Fish peri peri
Live Counters: North Indian, Pasta Toss Bar, and a Grilled BBQ station
Desserts: Chhena Poda Tartlets, Rose Milk Ice Cream, and Wedding-themed Cupcakes
Beverages: Signature drinks named “Rupesh Royale” (blue lagoon twist) and “Prerna Peach” (peach fizz)
Each table had a mini floral runner, and menu cards with couple sketches added a personal touch.
A Celebration Worth Remembering
As the event came to a close, guests clicked selfies at the peacock photo booth. Grooms father with tear ful eyes, with happiness in his face clicked a photo near our photo booth and then said.
“It wasn’t just an engagement—it was a statement of class, love, and our culture. Celebration Plus gave us more than we asked.”
